Following the massive success of Agent Kim Reactivated, SBS has officially begun positive discussions about producing season 2 of the action drama, which became one of 2026's biggest television hits.
According to reports, the production team behind Agent Kim Reactivated has started internal discussions for a second season. While plans are still in the early stages, the strong ratings and viewer support have made a continuation a serious possibility.
The drama opened with a solid 9.5% nationwide rating for its premiere before quickly gaining momentum. By episode four, it had surpassed the 20% mark with 21.6%, and it maintained ratings above 20% for seven consecutive episodes through its finale.
The final episode recorded an impressive 23.0% nationwide rating, while its highest minute-by-minute rating reached 27.1%, according to Nielsen Korea.
Because of its strong performance, interest in a second season naturally grew throughout the drama's run. So Ji Sub had also previously expressed his hopes for the series to continue, saying during SBS's drama media day that he would rather see the drama become a seasonal series than focus on winning acting awards.
Season 1 followed the story of an ordinary father who becomes a dangerous man in order to rescue his only daughter. As a revenge action drama centered on fatherhood, it concluded on July 25 while also leaving room for future stories without revealing major developments.
The finale also introduced a new character, leading some viewers to speculate that a possible second season could continue with Agent Kim Reactivated and the people around Baekho Employment Agency. However, no official story details have been confirmed.
The production company addressed the reports with a cautious but positive statement.
The company said, "Thanks to the tremendous love and support you have shown us, we are currently holding positive discussions about producing season 2 of Agent Kim Reactivated. However, since season 1 has only just concluded, the detailed schedule has not yet been decided. We ask for your understanding, and we will share updates as soon as plans are confirmed."
For now, season 2 remains under discussion, with no production schedule or release date announced. However, the production team's statement suggests that the possibility of So Ji Sub returning as Agent Kim Reactivated is being seriously considered following the drama's record-breaking success.
