tvN’s new weekend drama “Spooky in Love” has opened with a lower than expected viewership rating despite attention surrounding its lead cast.

According to Nielsen Korea, the first episode recorded a nationwide rating of 3.0%. This placed the drama last among four currently airing weekend miniseries, behind “The Apartment Job”, “The Husband”, and “Agent Kim Reactivated”.

The result also fell below the goal previously shared by the drama’s director during its press conference.

Referring to the Korean title, the director said, “I hope it starts at 5% and ends at 18%”. However, the premiere began two percentage points below that starting target.

“Spooky in Love” stars Park Eun Bin as Cheon Yeo Ri and Yang Se Jong as Ma Kang Wook, two people who repeatedly cross paths through unusual events.

Episode 2 will introduce Ong Seong Wu’s character, Kang Min Hwan, a wealthy heir and Cheon Yeo Ri’s close friend. His arrival is expected to create new tension between the main characters without revealing too much about the developing story.

Newly released photos show Park Eun Bin, Yang Se Jong, and Ong Seong Wu meeting on Jeju Island for the first time. Although Kang Min Hwan appears polite, his expression suggests that he may have hidden intentions.

Attention is now focused on whether the new character and the first meeting between the three leads can help “Spooky in Love” improve its ratings in the coming episodes.
