2NE1’s Sandara Park opened up about her unusual dating experiences during the early years of her career.
On July 16, Sandara appeared in a video on the YouTube channel “Whenever I Open My Mouth,” where she spoke honestly about her past relationships and how her dating style has changed.
Sandara first clarified that although she has never dated an older man, it does not mean she only prefers younger partners. She also shared that most of the people she dated were celebrities.
Speaking about avoiding public dating rumors, she said, “The best way to avoid a scandal is not to meet.”
Sandara explained that many of her past relationships mainly involved exchanging text messages rather than spending time together in person.
“I only started having relationships where we actually met recently,” she said. “A relationship where you only text each other cannot last for more than a few months.”
She admitted that she sometimes refused to meet even when the other person came to see her.
“The men could not handle it,” she shared. “At the time, I thought I was in a relationship, but looking back, I am not sure it was really dating.”
Sandara added that some relationships officially began with the words, “Today is our first day,” even though the couple only met once or twice or stayed far apart while attending the same event.
However, she said things are different now.
“These days, I communicate well and go on proper dates,” she explained. “But I still cannot openly walk around in public.”
Sandara also recalled receiving attention from senior celebrities shortly after her debut. According to her, some would contact her agency and ask for her phone number.
“At first, the company would refuse,” she said. “But because there was also a seniority system among managers, they sometimes eventually gave out my number.”
She then surprised the others by revealing that she once went on a blind date inside a car because meeting openly was difficult at the time.
