Actress Ryu Hye Young has addressed comments about her noticeably slim appearance following her recent appearance on MBC’s “I Live Alone.”
On July 16, Ryu Hye Young uploaded a short video titled “The Truth About Dieting?” to her YouTube channel and explained that she had not lost weight through dieting.
“I have never gone on a diet, and I have not actually lost weight,” she said. “I have not dieted since I was 25.”
According to Ryu Hye Young, the change in her appearance may be connected to naturally losing baby fat and regularly exercising.
“I used to have baby fat on my cheeks and body, and some of it naturally disappeared,” she explained. “Exercise may also be part of the reason. I continued exercising, and after changing trainers, I worked especially hard on improving my posture.”
The actress emphasized that her actual weight has remained almost unchanged for around 10 years.
“My weight really has not changed,” she said. “It has stayed within a difference of only one or two kilograms for the past decade. This is more of an explanation than a behind the scenes story.”
Ryu Hye Young became widely known through the 2015 tvN drama “Reply 1988,” where she played Sung Bo Ra, the older sister of Lee Hye Ri’s character.
She also spoke about how the sudden attention she received after the drama affected her daily life.
“After ‘Reply 1988,’ I began receiving a lot of attention,” she said. “That was when I realized that even one thing I said could influence people. I became more careful about what I said and about meeting others.”
Ryu Hye Young added that she still feels fearful and sometimes keeps her curtains closed because of her anxiety.
