Jung Ho Yeon is receiving attention for her strong big screen debut in the new Korean film “Hope.”
Released in theaters on July 15, “Hope” follows a village near the Demilitarized Zone after a report about a tiger leads to a series of unexpected events.
Jung Ho Yeon plays Seong Ae, a police officer working at Hopo Port. Without revealing major story details, the character enters during a tense moment and quickly makes her presence known through bold action and confident decisions.
The actress takes on several demanding scenes, including a car chase in a manual vehicle and gun action. She also brings humor to the serious atmosphere through Seong Ae’s calm speaking style and witty lines.
Despite “Hope” being Jung Ho Yeon’s first feature film, she delivers a steady performance alongside experienced actors Hwang Jung Min and Jo In Sung. Her natural movement between action and comedy also gives the character a clear personality.
Jung Ho Yeon became internationally known through the Netflix series “Squid Game,” but “Hope” marks her official debut on the big screen.
Through the film, she shows that she can handle large action scenes while also supporting the movie’s tension and pacing. Her performance has raised expectations for the roles she may take on in the future.
“Hope,” starring Jung Ho Yeon, Hwang Jung Min, and Jo In Sung, is currently showing in theaters across South Korea.
