Go Yoon Jung has officially joined the cast of the upcoming film “Nambeol”, adding more attention to the project after Lee Byung Hun was previously confirmed.
On July 7, production company Hive Media Corp announced that Go Yoon Jung will appear in the film. Lee Byung Hun was earlier confirmed to play Im Eok, the leader of the warriors.
In “Nambeol”, Go Yoon Jung will play Ae Ryeong, a woman who loses her family after an attack by Japanese pirates. To save her younger sibling, who is being held on Tsushima Island, she chooses to enter the battlefield herself.
Ae Ryeong is described as a strong and independent character who keeps moving toward her goal during a difficult and chaotic time. Her story is expected to become one of the emotional centers of the film.
“Nambeol” is also gaining attention as the first directing project of cinematographer Lee Mo Gae. He is known for his work on major films such as “12.12: The Day”, “Exhuma”, “Hunt”, “Yadang”, and “Emergency Declaration”.
Lee Mo Gae has received several awards for his cinematography, including recognition from the Baeksang Arts Awards and the Blue Dragon Film Awards. Through “Nambeol”, he is expected to bring together a large scale story, intense action, and powerful visuals.
The film is currently in pre production and is aiming to begin filming in the second half of 2026.
