Lee Jun Young is set to share a difficult story from his past during his appearance on tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block”.
The actor, who recently gained attention through the drama “Reborn Rookie”, appeared in a preview for the show and looked back on his early idol activities in Japan.
In the preview, Lee Jun Young explained that he was not ready to communicate in Japanese at the time.
He said, “The older members spoke Japanese very fluently, but I only went there knowing three phrases: ‘konbanwa’, ‘konnichiwa’, and ‘arigato gozaimasu’. It was really harsh”.
He then revealed a moment that left a strong impact on him. Lee Jun Young shared, “They dropped me off in the middle of Shibuya and told me to find my way back to the dorm.”
He added, “It was a distance that would normally take 15 minutes, but I could not speak the language. The company also took my phone, so it took me 4 hours to find the dorm.”
Lee Jun Young said the experience made him feel that he had to learn Japanese no matter what. He explained, “I felt that I had to learn no matter what, and it was so frustrating because I could only say three words.”
He also recalled being dropped off near Tower Records during his first time in Japan and feeling completely confused. He said he only knew the place where he lived, Kamiyamacho, and kept asking people, “How do I get to Kamiyamacho?”
Lee Jun Young’s story drew attention for showing the difficult side of his early career before he became known as an actor.
