BIGBANG’s Daesung personally apologized to 2NE1’s Minzy over a past comment that received criticism from fans.
On July 3, Se7en, Sandara Park, and Minzy appeared on Daesung’s YouTube show “Zip Daesung”, where the former YG Entertainment artists looked back on old memories and shared honest stories.
During the episode, Daesung said, “There is someone I want to apologize to with a respectful heart”, before turning to Minzy. He then said, “To me, the greatest MJ of this era is Minzy”.
The apology was related to Daesung’s past appearance on “Psick University Narak Quiz Show,” where he was asked to choose a 2NE1 member who “could be absent”. Daesung answered Minzy at the time, which led to criticism.
When Se7en asked why he gave that answer, Daesung admitted, “I was really out of my mind.” He added that he had always felt sorry because Minzy was once called the “female Daesung” after her debut.
Minzy then said, “I want to receive a proper apology.” Daesung immediately knelt down and said, “Minzy, I am sorry.” Minzy accepted the apology in a cool and lighthearted way.
Minzy also honestly shared how she felt at the time, saying, “At first, ‘Narak Quiz Show’ felt like I had been hit out of nowhere. I felt hurt. I wondered, ‘Why is this oppa doing this?’”
Sandara Park added that they even thought about boycotting “Zip Daesung” at the time, making the conversation both honest and playful.
Later, Se7en suggested asking the question in reverse. When Minzy was asked who the least necessary member in BIGBANG was, she answered, “Daesung”, making everyone laugh and ending the moment on a lighter note.
