Choi Hyun Wook is gaining major attention for his powerful acting change in Netflix’s new suspense drama “Notes from the Last Row”.
According to Good Data Corporation’s FUNdex rankings for the 4th week of June, Choi Hyun Wook ranked No. 2 in the TV OTT integrated drama and non drama cast buzz ranking. The result shows the strong interest viewers have in his new role.
The drama itself also showed impressive results. “Notes from the Last Row” ranked No. 1 overall in the TV OTT integrated buzz category, proving its strong popularity soon after release.
In the same cast buzz ranking, So Ji Sub from “Agent Kim Reactivated” took No. 1. Choi Min Sik, who appears with Choi Hyun Wook in “Notes from the Last Row,” ranked No. 3, while Lee Jun Young from “Reborn Rookie” placed No. 4.
“Notes from the Last Row” follows Heo Moon Oh, a failed writer and Korean literature professor played by Choi Min Sik, who discovers the talent of Lee Kang, a student sitting in the last row of his class. As he becomes more interested in the student’s writing, the story builds into a tense suspense drama.
Choi Hyun Wook plays Lee Kang, a mysterious student who slowly shakes up the professor’s life. The character looks innocent at first, but his unclear motives help create much of the drama’s tension.
The actor is also receiving attention for taking on one of the boldest scenes of his career. Rather than only relying on shock value, Choi Hyun Wook showed deeper emotions and a more mature side of his acting.
Choi Hyun Wook was previously known for youth centered roles in dramas such as “Twenty Five Twenty One”, “Weak Hero Class 1”, “D.P. Season 2”, and “Twinkling Watermelon.” Through “Notes from the Last Row”, he is showing a very different image and a wider acting range.
Even while acting with veteran stars such as Choi Min Sik, Heo Joon Ho, and Kim Yoon Jin, Choi Hyun Wook is being praised for holding his own and leaving a strong impression.
With both the drama and his name rising high on the buzz charts, “Notes from the Last Row” is becoming one of the most talked about Korean series on Netflix.
