Choi Woo Shik has personally responded after an unexpected racism controversy began during his recent appearance at Paris Fashion Week.

The actor recently traveled to Paris, France, to attend a fashion show for a brand where he is active as a global ambassador.

While heading to the event venue, Choi Woo Shik was seen greeting fans from different countries and signing autographs.

However, one fan later claimed that the actor ignored their autograph request while signing for others nearby.

The fan said they were the only Black fan at the scene and claimed Choi Woo Shik left without making eye contact.

The fan shared, “I can understand not getting an autograph itself. But it is hard to accept that he signed only for other people right in front of me.”

They also said, “My hands are still shaking because of this. I had the worst experience at the Paris fashion show.”

As the discussion spread online, Choi Woo Shik addressed the situation through his personal social media on June 28.

He wrote in English, “If I passed you by, I’m sorry. I wanted to sign for as many people as possible, but there was very little time. I sincerely hope we can meet next time.”

After his statement, some fans shared videos from the event, saying the clips showed Choi Woo Shik also signing autographs for Black fans.

Based on the videos shared online, many fans said the situation may have happened because of the crowded event and limited time, rather than an intention to ignore a specific person.

The issue remains a sensitive topic, with some people supporting the fan’s feelings and others defending Choi Woo Shik based on the available footage.

Meanwhile, Choi Woo Shik is set to appear in tvN’s upcoming drama “Whale Star,” alongside Moon Ga Young, Heo Nam Joon, Yoo Jae Myung, Kang Han Na, and others.
