So Ji Sub is returning to the small screen with a new action drama and a new kind of role for him.
On June 25, the press conference for SBS’s new Friday Saturday drama “Agent Kim Reactivated” was held in Seoul. So Ji Sub attended the event with Choi Dae Hoon, Yoon Kyung Ho, Joo Sang Wook, Son Na Eun, and director Lee Seung Young.
“Agent Kim Reactivated” is a revenge action drama about an ordinary father who becomes a dangerous man in order to find his only daughter.
So Ji Sub plays Agent Kim, the head of the accounting team at Sangsaeng Savings Bank, who has raised his daughter Kim Min Ji alone.
This marks So Ji Sub’s first father role since getting married, and his first father character in about 8 years since the 2018 film “Be With You”.
Speaking about why he chose the drama, So Ji Sub said, “I wanted to do another action drama, so I started reading the script”.
He added, “The story of ‘Agent Kim’, and the emotions and situation of a father who raises his daughter alone and goes out to find her, felt like a challenge for me”.
The drama also marks So Ji Sub’s return to SBS after 13 years since “Master’s Sun”. He shared, “I debuted in the 1996 SBS drama ‘Model’. My first lead role was also with SBS, and my ratings record after that was pretty good. I am looking forward to this one too”.
He added, “SBS feels like my hometown, so I feel comfortable and happy”.
As for what viewers can expect, So Ji Sub said the drama has “thrilling and refreshing action” and characters with their own stories.
He also explained that while the story cannot be fully light because it centers on a missing daughter, there will still be some fun moments when his character meets his friends.
So Ji Sub married Cho Eun Jung in 2020. “Agent Kim Reactivated” is drawing attention as his first drama father role since marriage and his long awaited return to SBS.
