So Ji Sub honestly talked about how he has changed after marriage and after many years as a lead actor.
On June 21, So Ji Sub appeared on the YouTube channel “Fairy Jae Hyung” with Yoon Kyung Ho and Choi Dae Hoon, his co-stars from SBS’s new Friday Saturday drama “Manager Kim.”
During the talk, Yoon Kyung Ho shared that So Ji Sub actually has a playful side but often holds it back. He said, “So Ji Sub seems to have a lot of playful energy inside him, but he holds it in.” So Ji Sub agreed that he enjoys fun and happy moments, especially when working with Yoon Kyung Ho and Choi Dae Hoon on set.
So Ji Sub also looked back on his past as an athlete. He shared that he trained in swimming and water polo from elementary school until his first year of college, saying, “I think my life as an athlete back then made my mental strength today.”
He then talked about how he entered the entertainment industry. So Ji Sub explained that he was first selected as a model for the brand Storm in 1995 and later debuted in dramas in 1996. He also revealed that after the late Kim Sung Jae passed away, he and Song Seung Heon unexpectedly became the main models for the brand.
So Ji Sub said he chose acting over sports because of his family situation at the time. He shared, “At that time, my family situation was not very comfortable, so I had no choice but to choose money.” He added that after his professor told him to choose between sports and the entertainment industry, he packed his things and left the dorm that same day.
The actor then opened up about how his personality changed after becoming a lead actor. He said that when he first became a main actor, he felt a heavy responsibility, but people often seemed uncomfortable during interviews or meetings with him.
He explained, “I had to take responsibility for the project and go out to do something, but I realized I could not just act according to my own personality.” He added, “So now, I may look more comfortable, but I am making an effort.”
So Ji Sub also briefly mentioned his marriage to Jo Eun Jung, saying, “I think I also became more comfortable after getting married.”
Yoon Kyung Ho and Choi Dae Hoon also shared how marriage and family changed their lives. Choi Dae Hoon said that after meeting his wife, he gained more courage and motivation, while Yoon Kyung Ho shared that thinking about his wife and children helped him endure difficult times during his unknown actor days.
The three actors showed a sincere and warm side as they talked about career pressure, family, marriage, and the personal growth that came with time.
