Lim Ji Yeon showed her deep appreciation for Heo Nam Jun while talking about their chemistry in “My Royal Nemesis.”
On the June 17 episode of tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block,” Lim Ji Yeon appeared as a guest and shared behind the scenes stories from filming the drama. The actress gained attention for playing Shin Seo Ri, while Heo Nam Jun starred opposite her as Cha Se Gye.
During the show, Lim Ji Yeon revealed that she and Heo Nam Jun had a very lively atmosphere on set. She said, “The two of us talked so much on set that even the director had a hard time.” She added that instead of only discussing acting, they often joked around and teased each other.
Lim Ji Yeon also shared that she put effort into making Heo Nam Jun look his best on screen because his character’s charm was important to the romantic comedy. She said, “In a romantic comedy, it is important for the male lead to do charming things, look handsome, or look sexy. Se Gye has to come alive for Seo Ri to come alive too.”
She then joked about how she sometimes gave up the better lighting for him, saying, “I gave up the backlight. Do you know that you are getting all the lighting?”
When Yoo Jae Suk agreed that one actor doing well helps the other actor shine too, Lim Ji Yeon said the chemistry between the male and female leads is very important in a romantic comedy. She praised Heo Nam Jun as “a really charming actor” and said she wanted his charm to be captured well.
Lim Ji Yeon became more heartfelt as she said, “Meeting an actor like Heo Nam Jun and finding a partner I could communicate with freely feels like a miracle.” She added that there were many moments when she felt physically and emotionally exhausted because of the heavy responsibility of the project, but Heo Nam Jun helped her through those times.
She continued, “Each time, Nam Jun encouraged me like a vitamin. Even though I am his senior, I really relied on him a lot. I think I was lucky that Se Gye was played by Nam Jun.”
