Lim Ji Yeon opened up about a beauty trend she followed in her 20s that ended up staying with her much longer than expected.

On the June 17 broadcast of tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block”, Lim Ji Yeon revealed, “I removed my eyeliner tattoo.”

She explained, “When I was 20, semi permanent makeup was very popular. So I got an eyeliner tattoo, but maybe it was not semi permanent and was actually permanent, because it did not disappear.”

The actress shared that she had wanted to remove it for a long time, but could not because the removal process would make her eyes swell. However, it eventually became uncomfortable for her work.

She said, “When filming, it was uncomfortable because I had to cover the eyeliner with makeup for each role, so I completely removed it.” She added with a laugh, “These days, removing it is the trend.”

Lim Ji Yeon had also mentioned the issue before on Jo Hyun Ah’s YouTube show, where she said she got the tattoo with a classmate near their school because she did not know how to do makeup at the time.

She recalled thinking, “If I get semi permanent makeup, does that mean I do not have to wear makeup normally?”

She also joked that the eyeliner looked “too black” and felt more like a permanent tattoo than semi permanent makeup. The actress explained that it was especially difficult when filming historical dramas because she had to hide the eyeliner to match her character.

Yoo Jae Suk teased her by saying she seems to follow trends a lot. Lim Ji Yeon agreed, saying, “Trends are very important. I have to try everything that is trendy.”

When she mentioned older food trends like butter rice cake and spring cabbage bibimbap, Yoo Jae Suk joked that those were already old trends, making Lim Ji Yeon ask, “What came out recently?” and bringing laughter to the set.
