Hyeri opened up about how her latest project helped her see herself in a new way.
The actress and entertainer recently appeared on the cover of Cosmopolitan Korea’s July issue. During the interview after the photoshoot, she talked about being selected as the “Next Actor” at the 14th Muju Film Festival and shared how meaningful the project was to her.
Hyeri said the project became “another turning point” in her career. She explained, “I prepared for almost a year, including the exhibition, the book, and the trailer video that I directed myself. It was a very precious and meaningful time”.
As part of the project, a book titled “Next Actor Lee Hyeri” was also released. The book looks back on her acting journey, past works, and growth as an actress.
When asked how she felt about the book, Hyeri gave an honest answer. She said, “Actually, I am not that great of a person, but in the book, I seemed like such a cool and amazing person”. She added that it made her think, “I should treat myself better”, and gave her more confidence for the future.
Hyeri also talked about balancing acting and variety shows. She shared that there was no big plan behind it, saying, “The choices I made in each moment just continued until now”.
She added that because many people enjoy her appearance on variety programs, she feels a natural sense of achievement and wants to keep working hard.
Looking back on her 16 years since debut, Hyeri said she feels proud of what she has built. She shared that her motivation comes from wanting to show fans more sides of herself, adding that the excitement of still being able to show “a pretty and new side” keeps her going.
