ENA’s new Monday Tuesday drama “Doctor on the Edge” is off to a strong start, with Shin Ye Eun and Lee Jae Wook’s chemistry quickly becoming one of the biggest reasons viewers are paying attention.
According to Nielsen Korea, “Doctor on the Edge” premiered on June 1 with a nationwide rating of 4.0%. By episode 2, the drama rose to 5.0%, setting a new record for ENA’s highest rated drama premiere.
Shin Ye Eun plays nurse Yook Ha Ri, a bright but mysterious character who works at a health center on the remote island of Pyeondongdo.
In the first week, the drama showed her fiery first meeting with Do Ji Ui, played by Lee Jae Wook, a public health doctor who arrives on the island.
The early episodes also hinted at Ha Ri’s hidden story, including questions about why she left a major university hospital and returned to the island. The drama also raised curiosity over the cancer treatment drug she is secretly protecting.
Shin Ye Eun drew praise for showing both Ha Ri’s cheerful energy and her deeper emotional side. Her scene with a patient who had lost hope especially showed her strong emotional acting without revealing too much of the story.
Another major highlight is her growing chemistry with Lee Jae Wook. Their characters start with constant bickering, but their shared desire to save patients slowly brings them closer.
With ratings rising from 4.0% to 5.0% in only two episodes, “Doctor on the Edge” is already being watched as one of ENA’s next major drama successes.
