Actor Song Joong Ki is set to return to KBS with the upcoming drama "Love Cloud".

According to reports on May 13, "Love Cloud", starring Song Joong Ki and Park Ji Hyun, has been confirmed as a KBS2 weekend drama.

The series is expected to air in the first half of next year as the follow up project after KBS's highly anticipated drama "Civil and Military Officials".

This marks Song Joong Ki's first KBS drama in about 10 years since the mega hit "Descendants of the Sun."

The 2016 KBS2 drama became a huge success not only in Korea but across Asia. At the time, it recorded peak ratings in the 38% range, and Song Joong Ki gained even more popularity through his role as Yoo Si Jin.

"Love Cloud" is a romantic comedy set in mysterious Jeju, where even love becomes like the weather. The story follows Kang Woo Joo, a former flight instructor, and Ahn Ha Neul, a former trainee pilot, who meet again after seven years as an air traffic controller and a pilot.

Song Min Yeob will direct the drama, while the writing team Mad Rabbit is in charge of the script. Along with Song Joong Ki and Park Ji Hyun, Lee Si Woo and Choi Hee Jin are also reportedly reviewing offers to appear in the series.

After "Descendants of the Sun," Song Joong Ki continued to show his range through dramas like "Reborn Rich" and "Vincenzo."

However, since he has not appeared in a KBS drama since then, many viewers are paying attention to his long awaited return to the network with "Love Cloud."
