Actress Shin Se Kyung has shared a calm update after her win at the Baeksang Arts Awards became a hot topic online.
On May 12, Shin Se Kyung posted a photo on her account with the simple message, “Thank you.” The photo showed a congratulatory flower bouquet sent by a fashion brand she worked with as an ambassador from 2023 to 2025.
The card with the flowers read, “Actress Se Kyung, we sincerely congratulate you on winning Best Supporting Actress at the Baeksang Arts Awards. We will support your bright journey ahead.”
Shin Se Kyung won Best Supporting Actress in the film category at the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards on May 8 for her role in ‘Humint.’ She took home the award against strong nominees including Shin Hyun Been, Yeom Hye Ran, and Jeon Mi Do.
However, right after the ceremony, the moment became surrounded by debate because of fellow actor Lee Sung Min’s acceptance speech.
During his speech, Lee Sung Min said, “I cursed inside because Hye Ran did not win.” His comment referred to Yeom Hye Ran, who appeared in the same project as him.
Some netizens defended the remark, saying it was a joke based on loyalty to a colleague. Others criticized it, saying it was rude to Shin Se Kyung, who had fairly won the award in a public ceremony.
As the debate grew, director Park Chan Wook and Yeom Hye Ran reportedly tried to lighten the mood with witty comments. Still, many of Shin Se Kyung’s fans expressed disappointment, saying her proud moment should have been fully celebrated.
Despite the controversy, Shin Se Kyung chose not to directly respond. Instead, she quietly thanked those who congratulated her.
With over 1.48 million subscribers as a YouTuber and more than 20 years of experience as an actress, Shin Se Kyung is receiving even more support for her calm attitude.
Born in 1990, the actress is now 35 years old, and her latest award is being seen as another proof of her acting ability.
