LE SSERAFIM is raising excitement for their upcoming 2nd full album with a bold and eerie new concept.
On May 12 at midnight, LE SSERAFIM released the first visual concept photos and videos for “‘PUREFLOW’ pt.1” through their official social media accounts.
The first concept, titled “BIRCH SCAR,” showed Kim Chae Won, Sakura, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha, and Hong Eunchae in a darker and more unusual mood.
The concept video gives the feeling of an old classic film. The members appear in a gloomy forest while wearing antique style outfits. A large wounded hand follows them, creating a strange and tense atmosphere. As night comes, the members transform into creature like figures with details such as odd eyes, sharp nails, dark skin, and metal decorations.
The concept is said to express the fear and emptiness inside people through creature inspired visuals. The stitched wounds and unusual makeup also bring to mind “Frankenstein.” Instead of hiding these monster like looks, LE SSERAFIM confidently shows them, giving the concept a stronger message.
Each member also showed a different charm. Kim Chae Won appeared with long blonde hair while holding herself with a strange hand. Sakura stood out with red and blue odd eye makeup. Huh Yunjin showed a bold black hand detail, while Kazuha surprised fans with her first short haircut since debut. Hong Eunchae added to the “Frankenstein” mood with wounds on her forehead and cheek.
LE SSERAFIM will continue releasing more concept photos and videos until May 14.
Their 2nd full album “‘PUREFLOW’ pt.1” will be released on May 22 at 1 PM. The album will include 11 tracks, including the title song “BOOMPALA” and the pre release single “CELEBRATION.” All five members also participated in the album’s song work and were listed in the credits.
