GFRIEND member Yuju and now a solo singer, opened up about a health concern related to her album preparations.

On the May 11 broadcast of KBS Joy’s “Mueos Ideun Mul Eobosal”, Yuju shared that her body starts to react badly whenever she begins preparing for new music. She confessed, “Whenever I start preparing for an album, I become too sensitive and lose my appetite.”

Yuju admitted that she once thought losing weight might make her look better on camera. However, the situation slowly became more serious and started affecting her daily life.

She revealed that she even collapsed while she was home alone and later received an endoscopy because she was having trouble eating properly.

Although the medical test showed no problem with her stomach or digestive organs, the hospital reportedly suggested that the cause could be psychological and advised her to see a psychiatrist.

Yuju said, “I enjoy it because I am doing something I love, but when I saw that my body was having problems, I thought, ‘Am I under stress?’”

Lee Soo Geun showed sympathy, saying the pressure of performing alone may have been very different from her time in a group. He said that having many things to worry about may have caused her appetite to disappear.

Seo Jang Hoon also gave advice from his own experience as a former athlete. He shared, “There was a time when I did not eat because of stress and went into a game, but I had no energy and could not play properly.”

He added that professionals need to take care of their condition, explaining that a singer’s voice can sound different depending on whether they are healthy and well fed.

Yuju also revealed that she once visited a hospital after feeling something wrong with her ear during recording. She said the doctor told her, “You need to eat first before taking medicine.”

Lee Soo Geun then gave firm advice with humor, saying, “You are an amateur. You cannot become a professional. With this kind of attitude, how can you comfort the public?”

Seo Jang Hoon also reminded her to think about what it really means to do her best, saying, “A song sung before you feel dizzy and collapse cannot deliver energy.”
