MBC’s Friday Saturday drama ‘Perfect Crown’ has reached a new personal best in ratings as IU and Byeon Woo Seok’s on screen romance faced another major turning point.

According to Nielsen Korea, episode 8 of ‘Perfect Crown’, which aired on May 2, recorded 11.6 percent in the metropolitan area and 11.2 percent nationwide. The drama also earned 5 percent among viewers aged 20 to 54.

With these numbers, ‘Perfect Crown’ ranked No. 1 in its time slot across the metropolitan area, nationwide, and the 20 to 54 viewer group. It also ranked No. 1 among all Saturday programs in the 20 to 54 category.

The episode’s highest minute by minute rating rose to 14.6 percent during the scene where Grand Prince Ian, played by Byeon Woo Seok, protects Sung Hee Joo, played by IU, from reporters’ camera flashes.

Episode 8 followed the aftermath of a dangerous incident involving Sung Hee Joo and Grand Prince Ian, while also showing the couple beginning their life as newlyweds.

After Sung Hee Joo regained consciousness, Grand Prince Ian rushed to her side, hugged her, and cried in relief. Sung Hee Joo comforted him with the words, “I’m okay.”

The two later shared a warm newlywed moment as they lay in bed together, held each other tightly, and exchanged a sweet kiss. However, their peace did not last long.

During an event at Royal School, breaking news revealed that their marriage contract had been leaked. While Grand Prince Ian and those around him quickly saw the report, Sung Hee Joo remained unaware as she stood on stage.

Soon after, reporters and students surrounded Sung Hee Joo with sharp questions and camera flashes. Grand Prince Ian stepped in to protect her, then took her hand and led her away from the scene.

With the contract marriage now exposed, viewers are looking forward to what will happen next for Sung Hee Joo and Grand Prince Ian.

Episode 9 of ‘Perfect Crown’ will air on May 8 at 9:50 PM.
