Fans have raised concerns after broadcaster Yoo Jae Suk was not included in the variety category nominations for the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards, calling for transparency in the selection process.
In a public statement, fans said they “request a detailed explanation” regarding the nominations, clarifying that the issue is not simply about one being excluded, but that “there is not enough explanation” for why Yoo Jae Suk and his programs, which showed “high buzz and strong results”, were left out.
They also pointed out the current entertainment trend where content spans multiple platforms, stating that it is “hard to understand” why his work across both broadcast and web content was entirely excluded.
While emphasizing that they are not insisting he must win, fans noted that “if many people are raising questions, the organizers need to provide a responsible explanation,” adding that without clear answers, it could affect the award’s “trust and symbolic value.”
Fans specifically requested transparency on the reasons for his exclusion, the detailed judging criteria, and whether evaluation standards were applied consistently across different platforms.
Yoo Jae Suk had been active in several popular shows during the eligibility period, but was not nominated this year, drawing more attention as he was nominated and won awards in previous ceremonies.
