SBS’s Phantom Lawyer continued its strong run as Yoo Yeon Seok’s character brought justice to a school violence case, leading the drama to dominate ratings once again.
According to Nielsen Korea, episode 8 recorded 9.5% nationwide, 9.4% in the metropolitan area, and peaked at 11.1%, ranking No.1 in its time slot as well as among all Friday and Saturday dramas. It also topped all currently airing miniseries, with a 2049 target rating reaching up to 2.5%.
In the episode, Shin Yi Rang (Yoo Yeon Seok) became involved in a school violence case while facing a personal crisis as a lawyer.
With the help of the spirit of Han So Hyun, the older sister of Han Na Hyun (Esom), he worked to uncover the truth behind the incident.
Han So Hyun, who had passed away after saving her younger sister, tearfully shared, “I saved my Na Hyun. I died, but I’m happy,” revealing her lingering emotions.
Despite this, Han Na Hyun initially responded coldly to Yi Rang’s situation, insisting that reaching a settlement was “the best option.”
As the investigation continued, Yi Rang discovered that the victim had been threatened with an illegal video and forced into silence. Using sincere words, he persuaded the student, saying in essence that taking revenge would only lead to more pain.
In the end, the victim showed courage by securing key evidence, allowing the truth to be revealed. Just as a settlement was about to be finalized, Han Na Hyun intervened and tore up the agreement, confirming that the perpetrators had been urgently arrested on charges including assault and illegal filming and distribution.
Meanwhile, suspicions about Yi Rang deepened after it was revealed that he could see and communicate with spirits. Han Na Hyun began to connect the truth after noticing that his words matched her late sister’s diary.
The episode concluded on an emotional note as Han Na Hyun finally reunited with her sister through Yi Rang, recognizing her through a shared phrase, “Let’s ride the last seat today.” The two shared a tearful embrace, leaving a lasting impression on viewers.
