JTBC’s Friday drama Still Shining, starring Jinyoung and Kim Min Ju, concluded its run with very low ratings, ending in the 0% range and drawing attention for both controversy and viewer dissatisfaction.
According to viewership data, episode 9 recorded 0.84% while the final episode dropped further to 0.77%, marking one of the lowest ratings for the series. Despite its cast and expectations, the drama struggled to gain traction until its final broadcast.
Earlier in its run, the drama also faced criticism after scenes were seen as possibly encouraging drunk driving, leading to complaints being filed with the broadcasting review board.
This issue, combined with what many viewers described as a slow and frustrating romance, continued to affect the show’s reception.
In the final episodes, the story followed the two leads as they moved forward with their lives while still holding feelings for each other. Their relationship remained unresolved, presenting a quiet and ambiguous ending rather than a clear resolution.
During an emotional moment, Jinyoung’s character expressed his lingering feelings, saying in essence, “If you ever think about your future again, including me, please contact me”, showing that he would remain in place despite their separation.
Kim Min Ju’s character responded calmly, explaining that her decision to leave was not rushed, signaling mutual understanding but continued distance.
The drama closed with a sense of unfinished emotions, leaving viewers with a bittersweet feeling as the characters chose separate paths while keeping the possibility of reconnecting open.
