SBS drama ‘Phantom Lawyer’ is gaining strong attention after Yoo Yeon Seok’s character made a powerful decision to return as a “ghost lawyer”, helping the spirits once again instead of living a normal life.
According to ratings, episode 7 recorded 7.6% nationwide, 7.3% in the metropolitan area, and reached a peak of 8.3%, ranking No.1 in its time slot. It also took first place among all Friday programs, with a 2049 target rating peaking at 2.4%, showing its strong popularity.
In the episode, Shin Yi Rang initially tried to live as a regular lawyer after losing the ability to see ghosts, even saying “long live independence” as he reopened his office to accept only human clients. However, reality did not go as planned, as he struggled to find clients.
He later reunited with Han Na Hyun, who was going through her own difficulties after leaving her company. Despite trying to stand on her own, she faced financial struggles and repeated rejection, especially after being placed on a blacklist.
As they worked on a case together, Han Na Hyun began to see unfair situations more clearly and took risks to uncover hidden issues, while Shin Yi Rang rushed to help her when he sensed danger. The two eventually opened up to each other, sharing their past struggles and regrets.
Han Na Hyun apologized, saying she realized how painful rejection can be, while Shin Yi Rang shared his personal belief, explaining he chose his path because he wanted to believe in justice and “punish bad people who hurt good people.”
The turning point came when Shin Yi Rang realized that the existence of spirits is not something to ignore, but something deeply meaningful to others. After hearing Han Na Hyun say, “I wish I could see my sister,” he made a firm decision.
Accepting his fate, he declared, “If this is my destiny, I will accept it,” and chose to return as a ghost lawyer once again, setting the stage for a new chapter in the story.
