Actor Wi Ha Joon is drawing attention after honestly opening up about his fear of water, revealing that he had to go through basic practice just to prepare for one of his memorable underwater moments in ‘Squid Game.’

On March 24, a new video featuring Park Min Young and Wi Ha Joon was uploaded on the TEO YouTube channel as part of ‘Salon Drip 2,’ where the actor shared one of the personal challenges he had to overcome for filming.

During the conversation, host Jang Do Yeon asked Wi Ha Joon whether there was anything he worked hard on but still found difficult despite seeming perfect like his on screen characters.

In response, Wi Ha Joon candidly revealed that he has long struggled with a fear of water. He explained that while filming ‘Squid Game,’ there was a diving scene that became especially challenging because his fear was still very serious at the time.

He shared, “I still have a fear of water. Back then, it was very severe, so I couldn’t even put my face in a sink.” Because of that, he said he signed up for swimming lessons and started from the most basic step possible, practicing simply putting his face in the water.

Wi Ha Joon also revealed that he received scuba training specifically for the underwater scene in ‘Squid Game.’ Looking back on the experience, he added, “Thankfully, once I had the equipment on, I could dive better than I expected.”

His honest confession is now drawing praise from fans, with many impressed that he was able to overcome such a strong fear in order to complete a physically demanding scene in one of the world’s biggest series.

The story is also resonating with viewers because it highlights just how much preparation and personal effort can go into even a short moment on screen, especially when an actor is dealing with a real life fear behind the scenes.
