April is shaping up to be one of the biggest months yet for K drama fans, as IU, Kim Go Eun, and Go Youn Jung are all returning with major new projects just days apart.

With all three actresses leading highly anticipated releases, viewers are already closely watching what could become one of the most talked about actress matchups of the season.

The first to kick things off is IU, who will return to the small screen on April 10 with MBC’s new Friday Saturday drama Perfect Crown.

The upcoming romance drama is already drawing strong attention thanks to its unique setting and star powered lead pairing with Byeon Woo Seok, whose popularity soared after Lovely Runner.

IU also shared why she was drawn to the project, saying, “The title was unique, so it stayed with me,” before adding, “I enjoyed reading it because each character’s personality stood out.”

She especially praised her role by saying Hee Joo’s unpredictable actions and the reason behind them felt especially appealing to her.

Just three days later, Kim Go Eun will take over the spotlight with Yumi’s Cells 3, which premieres on April 13 on TVING. The series is already one of the most anticipated April releases, especially because it is returning about four years after season 2.

The Yumi’s Cells franchise has remained a fan favorite for its creative blend of live action and 3D animation, and its strong popularity helped it become one of the rare Korean seasonal dramas to successfully reach a third season.

Expectations are rising even higher with Kim Jae Won joining the new season, while the core creative team reunites once again.

Then on April 18, Go Youn Jung will make her own quick return through JTBC’s new Saturday Sunday drama We Are All Trying Here.

The comeback is drawing even more attention because it comes only about three months after her Netflix series Can This Love Be Translated?

The drama is already building strong early buzz not only because of Go Yoon Jung’s fast return, but also because it brings together top talent behind the scenes.

Writer Park Hae Young, known for My Mister and My Liberation Notes, is teaming up with director Cha Young Hoon, known for When the Camellia Blooms and Welcome to Samdalri.

With IU, Kim Go Eun, and Go Youn Jung all launching new dramas in the same month, April is now being seen as a major battle month for top actresses.

As each project arrives one after another, many viewers are already wondering which star will make the biggest impact and come out with the strongest buzz.
