SBS’s Phantom Lawyer is quickly building major momentum after a strong second episode, with Yoo Yeon Seok delivering a satisfying first legal win and helping the drama jump to the top of Saturday’s mini series ratings.
According to Nielsen Korea, episode 2 recorded 8.7% nationwide household ratings, a strong 2.4% increase from episode 1’s 6.3%.
The number marks a new personal best for the series and made Phantom Lawyer the No. 1 Saturday mini series among dramas airing on MBC, tvN, JTBC, and TV CHOSUN.
The sharp rise is drawing attention because it came right after the drama’s unusual fantasy legal concept began gaining stronger word of mouth.
With its mix of courtroom tension, supernatural twists, and fast paced action, the series is already shaping up to be one of SBS’s strongest new weekend performers.
In the latest episode, Yoo Yeon Seok’s character Shin I Rang finally secured his first major victory while working alongside the ghost of Lee Kang Poong (Heo Sung Tae), giving viewers one of the drama’s most satisfying payoffs so far.
The episode also raised the stakes further with dangerous undercover scenes, key evidence, and a standout action moment that showcased a much wilder side of the character.
One of the most talked about scenes came when the possessed Shin I Rang boldly declared, “I’m a gangster lawyer!” before launching into a dramatic fight sequence. That moment, combined with the legal win, helped turn episode 2 into a major buzz point among viewers.
The episode also ended by teasing a brand new supernatural case, signaling that the drama is only beginning to expand its world after its strong start.
With ratings rising fast, a new personal best already locked in, and Yoo Yeon Seok gaining praise for his range across comedy, action, and emotion, Phantom Lawyer is now emerging as one of the weekend’s most talked about K drama titles.
