SBS’s new Friday Saturday drama Phantom Lawyer is already building strong momentum after its premiere, with viewers quickly reacting to its unusual fantasy legal concept and Yoo Yeon Seok’s dramatic transformation.
The series, which premiered on March 13, drew attention with its story of a lawyer who can hear the voices of people who died unfairly and fights for justice in unexpected ways. The drama’s early buzz was backed by numbers as it reached a peak minute rating of 6.6%, showing solid viewer interest right from the start.

At the center of the excitement is Yoo Yeon Seok, who plays Shin I Rang, a lawyer whose latest case pushes him into increasingly dangerous situations. Following the first episode, the newly released preview for episode 2 is now drawing major attention for showing a much more intense side of the character.
In the preview, Shin I Rang heads straight into a gangster hideout while chasing a crucial clue, setting up a risky undercover mission that quickly raises the tension. But what is making the biggest impact is the dramatic shift in his personality after being possessed by Lee Kang Poong (played by Heo Sung Tae), a ghost with a rough and fearless presence.
One of the preview’s standout moments comes when gangsters stop him and ask, “Who are you?” Instead of backing down, the possessed Shin I Rang confidently replies, “Me? I’m gangster lawyer Lee Kang Poong~” instantly teasing the kind of wild energy viewers can expect next.
The production team also raised expectations by saying Yoo Yeon Seok will deliver not only strong comedy, but also “full action scenes without holding back.” They added that his fast acting shifts between a nervous Shin I Rang and the rough charisma of Lee Kang Poong will be one of the episode’s biggest highlights.
With solid early ratings, strong viewer curiosity, and a preview full of comedy, action, and unexpected chaos, Shin I Rang Law Office is already shaping up to be one of SBS’s most talked about new weekend dramas.
