
Actor Lee Soo Hyuk is gaining attention for his striking visuals after making a special appearance in the Netflix romantic comedy series ‘Boyfriend on Demand.’
Released on March 6, the drama follows Mi Rae (BLACKPINK’s Jisoo), a webtoon producer who is tired of real life and decides to try a virtual dating simulation that allows users to subscribe to and experience romance.
In the series, Lee Soo Hyuk appears as Choi Si Woo, a virtual boyfriend featured in the monthly subscription service “Boyfriend on Demand,” created by the fictional game company DU.
The character is known as a third generation chaebol and the main character of a popular webtoon, already loved by fans as a 2D character before appearing in live action.
With his tall figure and sharp visuals, Lee Soo Hyuk quickly drew attention from viewers, with many saying he looked like he stepped straight out of a comic.
As the first virtual boyfriend introduced in the story, his role helps establish the fantasy world of the series and leaves a strong impression early on.
The drama’s director Kim Jung Sik also revealed the reason behind the casting during the production press conference. He explained, “I wanted someone who looked like AI, as if they came straight out of a comic, and the actor who fit that image was Lee Soo Hyuk.”
Fans say the actor successfully brought the director’s vision to life, perfectly matching the idealized character and adding to the drama’s romantic fantasy atmosphere.
Lee Soo Hyuk has been steadily building attention through various projects. He previously impressed viewers with the Wavve original drama ‘S Line’ and also showed a wider acting range in the film ‘Sister.’
