Netflix’s romantic comedy “Boyfriend on Demand”, starring BLACKPINK’s Jisoo, is quickly gaining global attention shortly after its release.
The series premiered on March 6 and recorded 185 user reviews on IMDb within just three days, showing strong interest from viewers worldwide. According to FlixPatrol, the drama also reached No.5 on Netflix’s global TV show rankings as of March 9.
On IMDb, the drama has received more than 2,000 ratings, with an average score of 7.6 out of 10. Many viewers left positive feedback, with some giving the series a full 10 out of 10. One user commented, “I am not a BLACKPINK fan, but I really like Jisoo as an actress. I might even check out the group’s music now.”
Other viewers also praised Jisoo’s performance, saying “Jisoo brings warmth and sincerity to the character Mi Rae,” while another review noted that “Jisoo is really good at rom com, her comedic timing comes naturally.”
International media outlets have also taken notice of the drama. TIME described the series as “a meta exploration of how women use story worlds as a cathartic escape from everyday life,” adding that the role may be “the one that suits Jisoo best so far.”
Meanwhile, the review site Decider stated that “Jisoo’s charm and the different dating scenarios set ‘Boyfriend on Demand’ apart from other K rom coms,” and gave the series a “Stream It” recommendation.
The drama follows Seo Mi Rae, a webtoon producer played by Jisoo who experiences different virtual relationships through a dating subscription device. Actors including Seo In Guk, Lee Soo Hyuk, Seo Kang Joon, and Park Jae Beom appear as the virtual boyfriends in the story.
The series also reached No.1 on Netflix Korea’s “Today’s Top 10 Series” chart just two days after its release, highlighting its growing popularity among viewers.
