A new MBC drama is already gaining attention online even before its premiere. “Perfect Crown” is scheduled to air in April, and viewers are showing strong interest after the main cast lineup was revealed.

The series stars IU and Byeon Woo Seok, who will be reuniting on screen for the first time in 10 years since appearing together in Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo. Their reunion has already sparked discussions among drama fans.

Set in a fictional 21st century constitutional monarchy version of South Korea, the story follows a wealthy businesswoman who has everything but struggles with her commoner status, and a royal prince who cannot freely have what he wants despite his position. Their story centers on a contract marriage that begins to change their lives.

IU takes on the role of Seong Hee Ju, a successful CEO known for her intelligence, ambition, and strong leadership.

Despite her achievements as a top business figure, her social status remains a major obstacle in a society where noble families still hold influence.

Byeon Woo Seok plays Grand Prince Ian, a royal family member who has quietly lived with the limits of being the “second son” of the royal household. Even so, he is widely admired by the public and is often described as “the most beloved royal in South Korea.”

The drama is also drawing attention because of its connection to past MBC series set in constitutional monarchies, including Goong, Goong S, and The King 2 Hearts. Among these, “Princess Hours” became a major hit in 2006, reaching a peak rating of 28.7%.

With the return of this setting and the highly anticipated reunion of IU and Byeon Woo Seok, many viewers are now wondering whether Perfect Crown can continue the success of MBC’s past fusion romance dramas when it premieres this April.
