A foreign woman has been indicted and detained for trial on stalking related charges involving BTS member Jungkook.
On March 3, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office announced that a Brazilian woman in her 30s, identified as A, was indicted on February 27 for violating the Anti Stalking Act and trespassing.
According to authorities, A allegedly visited Jungkook’s residence in Yongsan, Seoul, around 20 times between December and January.
She is accused of repeatedly ringing the doorbell, leaving mail, and placing photos on the railing near the home. Some reports also stated that she rang the doorbell multiple times in a way that caused concern.
During questioning, A reportedly stated that her actions were done “out of love for Jungkook.” However, prosecutors determined that the repeated and continuous nature of her actions met the legal definition of stalking.
A was first arrested in December on trespassing charges but was later released. Police then issued a restraining order banning her from approaching within 100 meters of the residence.
Authorities say she later attempted to approach the home again despite the order, leading to her arrest and transfer to prosecutors on February 19.
It was also reported that an attempted trespassing charge was dismissed due to lack of sufficient evidence.
