The Netflix original series Show Business, starring actors Song Hye Kyo and Gong Yoo, has finished filming.
On January 10th, Song Hye Kyo shared a short message on her social media saying, “Last day at work,” and announced that filming for the Netflix original series Show Business had ended.
Show Business tells a growth story set in the Korean entertainment industry from the 1960s to the 1980s, a time filled with cruelty and violence. It follows people who had nothing, but boldly gave their all while dreaming of shining success.
This is a new work by writer No Hee Kyung, known for dramas such as Worlds Within, It’s Okay, That’s Love, and Our Blues. The series is directed by Lee Yoon Jung, who previously directed Coffee Prince and Cheese in the Trap.
This project also marks the third collaboration between writer No Hee Kyung and Song Hye Kyo, following Worlds Within and That Winter, the Wind Blows. In the drama, Song Hye Kyo plays Min Ja, the character who leads the story.
Min Ja has a strong inner self shaped by many hardships in her childhood and boldly throws herself into the Korean music industry in search of opportunity.
Opposite her, Gong Yoo plays Dong Gu, reuniting with director Lee Yoon Jung after Coffee Prince. Dong Gu is Min Ja’s longtime friend and later enters the music industry with her. He is a devoted character who listens to everything Min Ja says.
The cast also includes Kim Seol Hyun as Min Hee, who has a love hate relationship with Min Ja since childhood; Cha Seung Won as Gil Yeo, the top composer of that era; and Lee Ha Nee as Yang Ja, Min Hee’s mother, who dreams of becoming a singer.
The release date has not been decided yet.
