Singer Ailee has opened up honestly about why she decided to marry her husband Choi Si Hoon, sharing a personal and heartfelt story on SBS’s variety show Dong Sang Mong 2: You Are My Destiny.
On the recent broadcast, Ailee appeared eight months after her marriage and talked about her life as a newlywed. She also mentioned that she is currently preparing for her first solo concert in two years, which will take place on Christmas Eve.
What caught viewers’ attention most was Ailee’s unexpected story about a cockroach, which she said became a key moment in her decision to marry.

Ailee explained that both she and her husband are extremely afraid of bugs.
One day, when a cockroach entered their home, the two panicked and screamed. Although her husband was just as scared and even cried, he still gathered the courage to catch it for her.
Ailee shared that seeing him step up despite his fear made her think, “If it’s this person, then even when things are scary or difficult, he will still do his best.” Her story drew laughter from the studio, with the MCs reacting playfully to her honest confession.
The episode also drew interest as Ailee was expected to address the past “unemployed” controversy surrounding Choi Si Hoon that surfaced around the time of their marriage, further raising viewers’ curiosity.
Through her story, Ailee showed her strong trust and affection for her husband, proving that for her, it was not status or circumstances, but sincerity and courage that mattered most.
