EXO’s Lay has personally explained why he was unable to attend the group’s fan meeting and shared a sincere apology with fans.
On December 14, Lay spoke through his social media and revealed that he had to urgently return to Beijing to attend an important official event held by the National Peking Opera Company. He reassured fans by saying that he arrived safely and asked them not to worry.
Lay also shared a heartfelt apology, saying he was truly sorry to the fans, his fellow members, the company, and everyone who was affected by his absence.
Earlier that day, EXO held their fan meeting “Exoverse” at Inspire Arena in Incheon. Since Lay had been focusing on activities in China, many fans were especially looking forward to seeing him rejoin group schedules.
However, SM Entertainment announced on the day of the event that Lay would not be able to attend due to unavoidable circumstances, which led to confusion and disappointment. The fan meeting went ahead with Suho, Chanyeol, D.O, Kai, and Sehun in attendance.
Lay’s message helped clear up the situation, as fans appreciated his honesty and direct apology regarding his sudden absence.
