BTS’s V is once again proving his global power, with Christmas Tree officially landing on Billboard’s “Best Christmas Songs of the 21st Century” list.
On December 2, Billboard announced its ranking of “The 30 Best First Christmas Songs of the 21st Century,” and V’s Christmas Tree came in at No. 24. With this, the track became the only K-pop song to make the cut this year.
Billboard also spotlighted the song’s emotional lyrics, including:
“Your light's the only thing that keeps the cold out… They’re singing like Christmas trees for us.”
Christmas Tree dropped in December 2021 as part of the Our Beloved Summer OST and immediately made chart history. V became the first Korean solo artist to debut at No.1 on the Billboard Digital Song Sales chart, while the song also entered the Hot 100 at No.79. It later became the first K-pop track to reach No.1 on the Holiday Digital Song Sales chart, and debuted at No.55 on the Holiday Hot 100.
The song continues to earn global love years later. It has been picked for multiple holiday playlists around the world and was even named the most popular Christmas song on Spotify by UK outlet Edinburgh Live, beating classic hits by major Western artists.
Fans celebrated Billboard’s latest recognition, calling the song “a masterpiece,” “my favorite Christmas song,” and praising V’s unique voice and warm tone.
Many also said the track has grown beyond a seasonal release, with one comment reading:
“Christmas Tree keeps proving it's more than a seasonal song. It’s a timeless winter classic in the making.”
With another Billboard achievement added to his list, V’s Christmas Tree continues to return to global playlists every December—showing its staying power as one of the most loved winter songs of the century.
