Park Seo Joon is finally returning to the small screen, and this time, he’s taking on a bold new challenge — an 11-year age gap romance in JTBC’s upcoming drama Surely Tomorrow.

After the massive 70 billion won production Gyeongseong Creature failed to impress viewers, all eyes are now on whether Park Seo Joon can regain his “romance king” status.

Surely Tomorrow follows the story of Lee Gyeong Do (played by Park Seo Joon) and Seo Ji Woo (played by Won Ji An), ex-lovers who end up facing each other again in the most unexpected way.

He’s now a reporter who exposes a cheating scandal, while she appears as the wife of the man involved in the scandal. Their tense reunion sets the stage for a complicated second-chance love story.

This project marks Park Seo Joon’s first drama in five years and his first romance in seven. Fans still remember his huge hits like She Was Pretty and Fight For My Way, which helped establish him as one of the most reliable stars in romance dramas.

But his recent projects haven’t had the same success. The Marvels, which was supposed to be his big Hollywood moment, ended up recording the lowest box-office results in Marvel Studios history.

Gyeongseong Creature, despite its massive budget, received sharp criticism for its weak story and lack of emotional impact, with viewers saying, “It was a flashy show with nothing meaningful inside.”

Because of this, many viewers see Surely Tomorrow as an important turning point. At the drama’s press event, Park Seo Joon admitted honestly, “I feel pressure when I film, but how people will judge the final result is something I cannot control.”

He also addressed the 11-year age difference between him and co-star Won Ji An, saying, “I did feel pressure at first because the age gap might look big. But after meeting her, I realized how mature and skilled she is. That helped me relax.”

Fans are sharing mixed reactions online. Many are excited to see Park Seo Joon back in his strongest genre, saying he’s “an actor you can always trust in romance.”

But others are more cautious, wondering if viewers will be able to connect with such a large age-gap love story and noting that “recent romance dramas haven’t been doing well.”

With Park Seo Joon stepping back into the world of heart-fluttering stories, viewers are now waiting to see whether Surely Tomorrow will mark his big comeback — or add to the growing list of disappointments.
