Actress Kim Min Ha recently shared the behind-the-scenes story of her kiss scene with senior actor Lee Junho in the tvN weekend drama “Typhoon Family”.
Kim Min Ha played Oh Mi Seon, the ace accountant who keeps the company running with her calm and logical mind. While the director originally imagined her as a “cold city woman”, Kim Min Ha added her own touch to the character.
She explained, “In my first meeting with the director, he wanted Mi Seon to have a ‘cold city girl’ vibe. But I felt she was warm and steady. I understood where the coldness came from, but instead of dividing her image, I wanted to show that she is naturally a warm person little by little”.
Speaking about acting alongside Lee Junho, she said, “He is such a senior. I relied on him a lot. He is very kind and takes care of others in a detailed way. I felt very comfortable acting with him.”
Kim Min Ha also revealed how she prepared for the kiss scene. “We filmed it after we became really close. At first, I wondered if it would feel awkward, but that feeling went away quickly. We had a deep affection for each other as colleagues. Nothing felt forced, and we filmed it with a sincere feeling of love between the characters”, she shared.
The actress also reflected on portraying youth during the IMF era. “Life is all the same no matter how much time passes. The era and environment are different, but questions like ‘How should I live?’ must have been asked 1,000 or 2,000 years ago. There were always young people growing inside those times. So hope and love keep coming back again and again”, she said.
Kim Min Ha added, “I think there was a little more romance back then. Now we have phones and everything moves fast. It’s an age where people even ask ChatGPT about their worries. In the 1990s, people met each other face-to-face much more, so the depth of relationships must have felt different”.
