Former Wonder Girls member Ahn So Hee looked back on her idol days and revealed that she used to dislike the image that made her famous.
During her guest appearance on the November 5 episode of MBC’s Radio Star, Ahn So Hee shared that she wasn’t fond of the Wonder Girls’ early retro concept or the famous “Oh My” moment that fans loved.
“At that age, I just wanted to look pretty and bright,” she confessed. “But the retro concept was something I never imagined doing. I had to tie my hair back tightly and wear colorful, funky clothes that weren’t trendy at all. My friends didn’t even know those styles. I really hated it back then.”
She also recalled how uncomfortable she felt about her viral line in Tell Me. “At first, I didn’t even want to do ‘Oh My.’ In the music video, I dressed as Wonder Woman, and I had chubby cheeks, so people started calling me ‘Dumpling So Hee.’ I didn’t like being called that at the time,” she admitted.
But So Hee said her feelings have changed with time and experience. “Recently, I met Park Bo Young unnie, and she also had the ‘nation’s little sister’ title,” she shared. “She told me it was hard back then because people only saw her in one image. But now she’s grateful for it since it’s something people still remember. I feel the same way now.”
Fans praised Ahn So Hee for her honesty and maturity, saying it’s heartwarming to see her embrace the past with gratitude.
