K-pop legend Kangta is stepping into a new era of music production. The first-generation idol has officially launched SMArt, a new sub-label under SM Entertainment, and will serve as its executive producer.

According to SM Entertainment on November 3, SMArt will focus on creating “fresh and stylish sounds” across various genres.

The label aims to reinterpret K-pop as a form of cultural art while offering high-quality music production that feels both modern and creative.

The first artist to debut under SMArt is none other than Im Si Wan, who will finally make his first solo album debut this December.

The label will fully handle his album’s production, and a global fan tour is already being planned for early next year, exciting fans worldwide.

Kangta, who has been with SM Entertainment for decades, has long been known for his artistic vision and strong creative leadership.

After serving as the chief producer for SMASHHIT under SM’s publishing division Kreation Music Rights (KMR), he is now taking things to the next level with his own label.

As executive producer, Kangta plans to work closely with both established and new artists, while also discovering and nurturing young songwriters.

With nearly 30 years in the industry, fans are eagerly waiting to see the fresh musical direction Kangta will bring through SMArt — starting with Im Si Wan’s highly anticipated solo debut.
