Actor Ryu Jun Yeol reportedly joined only part of the Reply 1988 10th anniversary content, drawing attention as fans speculated whether meeting his ex-girlfriend Hyeri may have been uncomfortable.
On October 30, the production company Egg Is Coming shared, “Ryu Jun Yeol couldn’t join the entire MT schedule due to his other commitments, but since this was content celebrating the 10th anniversary of Reply 1988, he adjusted his schedule to participate in part of the filming.”
Earlier reports confirmed that the beloved cast of Reply 1988 reunited to film special anniversary content with producer Shin Won Ho and his team.
While Ryu Jun Yeol was initially expected to skip the shoot because of his schedule, he later managed to attend briefly.
The news quickly drew attention because Ryu Jun Yeol and Hyeri—who met through the drama and dated for six years before breaking up—were both part of the original cast. However, it was reported that the two did not meet during this filming.
Netizens expressed mixed feelings online, with some saying they were happy to see Ryu Jun Yeol take part, while others wondered if avoiding an encounter with Hyeri influenced his short appearance.
Reply 1988, which first aired in 2015, remains one of Korea’s most loved dramas and continues to hold a special place in fans’ hearts even a decade later.
