Actor Heo Nam Joon opened up about the unexpected reactions to his on-screen romance with Kim Da Mi in JTBC’s hit weekend drama A Hundred Memories.
In a recent interview, Heo Nam Joon shared that while he knew viewers would have mixed opinions about his character’s love story, he didn’t expect the response to be this intense. “Everyone has their own taste, and I think such opinions are natural,” he said calmly.
However, the actor was honest about his surprise at the strong reactions toward the later episodes, where his character, Han Jae Pil, developed feelings for Go Young Rye (played by Kim Da Mi).
“I honestly didn’t think the reactions would be this strong,” he admitted. “I tried not to make him look confused in the later episodes, but I didn’t imagine that people would be this unsure about who he’d end up with.”
Heo Nam Joon explained that his goal was to show Jae Pil as a man learning what love really means for the first time. “He was a pure person who didn’t really understand love,” he shared.
“Being with Young Rye made him feel comfortable and fulfilled, and at some point, he realized that this was love.”
Despite the mixed opinions, many praised Heo Nam Joon for his emotional performance and chemistry with Kim Da Mi, which gave the show one of its most memorable storylines.
With A Hundred Memories now wrapped up, fans are eager to see what role Heo Nam Joon will take on next — and how he plans to win over viewers once again.
