Actor Jin Tae Hyun is once again drawing attention for his straightforward opinions — this time about religion and marriage.
In a new video uploaded on October 17 to his and his wife Park Si Eun’s YouTube channel Park Si Eun Jin Tae Hyun Small TV, the couple discussed what it’s really like being a Christian couple.
Jin Tae Hyun began, “We’re Christians, right? I think many people are curious whether Christian couples don’t fight or if having a good relationship is because they’re Christian.”
He continued, “Choi Soo Jong, Cha In Pyo, Sean, and I all have one thing in common — we love our wives deeply. And we all happen to be Christians. So people often think, ‘If you marry a Christian man, you’ll be loved.’ That’s nonsense,” he said, firmly rejecting the idea.
The actor went on to explain, “Of course, faith plays a role. The Bible says many times that husbands should love their wives. But that doesn’t mean I love my wife because of that."
He added, "Even if I had married another woman, I would’ve still tried to love her. But the reason I can love this deeply is because of Park Si Eun. She’s the one who makes me want to love her, and our shared faith makes that stronger.”
Park Si Eun added, “There are many loving husbands who aren’t believers too,” to which Jin Tae Hyun replied, “Just because you go to church doesn’t mean your marriage will be perfect. I’ve seen the most fights among church couples — sometimes people turn into fighters right after Sunday service.”
He concluded with advice about married life, emphasizing emotional independence from parents. “We’re completely free from that,” he said. “We’re each other’s number one — not our parents, not even our child. Because our priorities are clear, we don’t have reasons to fight.”
