Actress Soo Ae has officially exited the highly anticipated drama Inside Men, following the departures of actors Song Kang Ho and Koo Kyo Hwan and director Mo Wan Il.
According to IZE on October 16, Soo Ae was cast as newspaper executive Kang Young Im, a key character central to the story.
However, after recent discussions with the production team, she decided to step down. Her character had been expected to play a major role in the plot, and her casting had generated excitement from the start.
Inside Men is a drama adaptation expanding on the 2015 hit film of the same name starring Lee Byung Hun and Jo Seung Woo, which drew 7.07 million viewers.
While the film focused on male power struggles in a political thriller, the drama was set to reimagine the story with stronger female characters and more layered storytelling. Kang Young Im, the character Soo Ae was to play, was planned to be central to this new narrative.
With the exits of Soo Ae, Song Kang Ho, Koo Kyo Hwan, and director Mo Wan Il, the production is now facing a major reorganization of both the main cast and directing team.
The drama’s script is written by Lee Ki Chul, known for films such as The Thieves, Assassination, and Mogadishu, while production is handled by Hive Media Corp, the company behind Seoul Spring, Boss, The Man Standing Next, and Handsome Guys.
The team is currently discussing new casting and directing lineups to move the project forward.
