Actress Song Ok Sook has opened up about a deeply personal chapter in her life — revealing that she adopted a Filipino mixed-race daughter after suffering a miscarriage.
In a recent episode of “Song Seung Hwan’s Wonderful Life”, Song Ok Sook shared the emotional story behind her decision to adopt.
She explained, “I gave birth to one daughter. The son is from my husband’s previous marriage, and my eldest daughter is adopted.”

The actress revealed that she adopted her daughter in 2007 after a heartbreaking experience. “I gave birth to my daughter when I was 41 and got pregnant again, but I had a miscarriage,” she said.
“The doctor told me not to be too sad and that I shouldn’t plan to have another child. Hearing that felt like I was being told, ‘You’re done as a woman.’ It really hurt.”
Song Ok Sook continued, “My husband suggested adopting an 8-year-old girl who had nowhere to go because her parents had divorced. That’s how we met our daughter.”

The actress admitted that raising her adopted daughter wasn’t easy at first. “Because of my strong and aggressive personality, it was difficult to raise her with love in the beginning,” she confessed.
“But looking back, I think it was something I needed to go through to become a better person. I learned that children must be raised with love, not through conditions or deals.”
Fans praised Song Ok Sook for her honesty and warmth, calling her story both touching and inspiring.
