Lee Chang Hoon has spoken up about his long-standing dating rumors with Song Hye Kyo, sharing the real story behind the speculation — and even revealing a rare photo of the two from their sitcom days.
The topic came up during the October 9 episode of tvN Story’s Chuseok special, “Shin Dong Yeop’s Who Ordered Coffee? Soonpoong Family,” which featured a reunion of the beloved sitcom “Soonpoong Clinic” cast.
Host Shin Dong Yeop brought up the old rumor, saying, “Lee Chang Hoon was incredibly popular back then. Didn’t you have a dating scandal with Song Hye Kyo?”
Laughing, Lee Chang Hoon replied, “I think that happened because there weren’t many celebrities at the time. The scandal became quite a big deal back then. I even argued with a reporter about it because I really hated it.”
He then smiled and added, “Now that Hye Kyo has become a world star, when people ask me about it, I just tell them to relax and not think too much about it.”
The actor also revealed that his wife and her friends once asked him about the rumor, saying, “My wife told me she even made a bet with her friends. I told them it wasn’t true — the drama was just really popular, and people misunderstood.”
Lee Chang Hoon went on to share a rare photo he took with Song Hye Kyo during filming. “We worked together for about a year and three months, but that’s the only picture we took. I don’t even remember who took it,” he said.
After seeing the photo, Shin Dong Yeop joked, “You two definitely dated!” — making everyone on set burst into laughter.
Fans were amused by the lighthearted exchange, saying it was a fun throwback to one of Song Hye Kyo’s earliest acting days and praising Lee Chang Hoon for his honest and humorous attitude.
