BTS’s RM is breaking new ground in the art world with a historic collaboration.

On October 3, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) announced a special exhibition titled “RM x SFMOMA.” Opening in October 2026 and running until February 2027, the exhibition will feature more than 200 works, including RM’s personal art collection alongside pieces from the museum.

This marks the first time SFMOMA has ever collaborated with a K-pop artist since its founding. RM will also take part as a curator, showcasing his artistic vision and passion for contemporary art.

Sharing his thoughts, RM said, “We live in an era defined by boundaries. I hope this exhibition becomes a place to reflect on the borders between East and West, Korea and the U.S., modern and contemporary, individual and universal.”

He added, “There is no fixed way to experience it, but I hope it can be a small yet strong bridge for many people.”

SFMOMA’s chief curator Janet Bishop praised the project, saying, “Visitors will have an unprecedented opportunity to experience RM’s beautiful and thoughtful collection of paintings and sculptures in dialogue with our holdings.”

The exhibition will highlight not only RM’s deep appreciation for Korean contemporary masters but also works from internationally renowned artists, with many pieces being revealed to the public for the first time.
