Kim Soo Hyun’s side has spoken up about the controversial photo of him with the late Kim Sae Ron that sparked heavy rumors online.
On September 30, the actor’s lawyer Ko Sang Rok addressed the issue and firmly denied claims that the photo was taken when Kim Sae Ron was still a minor.
Instead, he clarified that the picture was from February 2020, when the late actress had just entered her sophomore year of college.
He explained, “The photo that the late actress posted and deleted was confirmed to have been taken in 2020, not in 2016 as claimed in a false statement. At that time, she was already a college student, not a high school freshman.”
The lawyer further stressed that confusing the picture with her teenage years “goes against common sense”, saying even her own family would have been able to recognize the difference.
He also criticized those spreading the claim, adding, “If just a few basic facts had been checked, it would have been clear this was false.”
Ko added that while there are reasons some people may give statements that are not true, “one must be very careful, especially if such statements can cause serious harm.”
He admitted there were limits to what could be revealed out of respect for the late actress, but emphasized that Kim Soo Hyun was not in a relationship with her when she was underage.
This comes after Kim Sae Ron uploaded and quickly deleted the photo last year, which fueled dating rumors. Kim Soo Hyun’s agency had denied the speculation at the time, calling the dating claims groundless.
With the controversy still ongoing, Kim Soo Hyun’s side continues to stand firm, making it clear that the viral photo does not support claims of an underage relationship.
