Lee Byung Hun made a memorable appearance as the sole host of the 30th Busan International Film Festival, where he reflected on his long career and even made fans laugh with a playful comment about his younger days.
The opening ceremony took place on September 17 at the Busan Cinema Center in Haeundae. Lee Byung Hun, who also stars in this year’s opening film “It Can’t Be Helped” directed by Park Chan Wook, greeted the audience warmly.
He shared, “A small dream that started in the city of Busan 30 years ago has now grown into a film festival that represents Asia. I’m happy to see those who have been with us through this journey and those who are here for the first time.”

Looking back on his acting career, the veteran star continued, “It feels amazing to be standing here. I debuted in 1991 and filmed my first movie in 1995. This year marks my 30th year as a film actor. After doing this for 30 years, I finally feel a little like a real actor.”
Later, while looking at old photos of himself from past Busan festivals, Lee Byung Hun made everyone laugh by joking, “In the last photo, I look like Won Bin.”
The 30th Busan International Film Festival officially opened on September 17 and will run until September 26 at the Busan Cinema Center and nearby venues.
